Mouth hygiene for infants (0-12 months)d
Infants may have curds of milk on their tongues and may not be able to get rid of these from their mouths after feeding. As a parent or caregiver, clean their gums and tongue with cotton wool dipped in warm water to remove food remains. You can clean their mouth this way every day, morning and evening.

Mouth hygiene for toddlers (1-5 years)
Most children start to grow teeth after their sixth month.
- Use a grain size of toothpaste on a soft children's toothbrush to brush the visible teeth.
- Clean their tongue and gums softly while brushing.
- Encourage them to spit out the toothpaste when brushing.
- As they grow older, introduce flossing (see the wellness section) at least once a day.

Mouth hygiene for pre-teens (6-12 years)
At this stage, milk teeth are gradually replaced by permanent teeth.
- Use a fluoride-containing toothpaste about the size of a bean.
- Teach them the correct way to brush (up and down movement) including teeth and gums.
- Encourage them to brush twice daily and to floss one a day.
